DEM (10 meter) Surface - Digital Elevation Model; A representation of a geographic feature that can be measured continuously across some part of the earth's surface . A 10 meter 'DEM' or surface model, is an approximation of a surface, generalized from elevation points spaced regulary every 10 meters.

NOTES:
A DEM (Digital Elevation Model) is a 32 bit IEEE floating point value organized in a one-channel Band Interleaved by Line file (BIL) on a 7.5-minute by 7.5-minute geographic (lat/long) grid. The origin of the post is center center. DEM Surface models are stored and displayed as rasters, TINs, or terrains in ArcGIS.

A color ramped shaded relief affect can be attained by overlaying the elevation model with the hillshade layer and assigning a light-to-dark color ramp. The affect works best with 50% transparency set on the elevation layer. The shaded relief lyr (layer) file with these settings can be downloaded below.
