NOTES:
This is a sub-set of the Hawaii Emergency Shelters Layer distributed by the OP Statewide GIS and Pacific Disaster Center. Only Oahu was Extracted. It w as then projected using State Plane, zone 3, Feet, Nad 83 Harn datum.
C&C of Honolulu: The list of current emergency shelters was compared
against an existing emergency shelter location shapefile utilizing tabular information
provided by the Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross. Shelters that were missing
from the existing shapefile were digitized using their addresses, shelters in the existing
shapefile but not on the list were removed, and shelters in the shapefile and on the list
were validated by address verification means.

The City and County of Honolulu encourages GIS data users to verify the suitability of the data before use. Please report any discrepancies or errors found to gis@honolulu.gov.
